WERKSHOP is a multivalent series of classes, seminars, new releases, and teachings. The most powerful weapon we artists have is our werk, and when we enact it in community toward a common goal, it is exponentially more potent. DEEP BLACK's role is to arm you to the teeth with creative ability so that we can all werk to fight the wrongs of our world, together.

CAMPS
2 SUMMER SESSIONS
Couture Camp
We’re inviting creative high schoolers to join the most innovative summer camp you’ll ever experience, taught by local creatives Jess Goehner (fashion designer and owner of Directive) and Sherród Faulks (ceramic designer and owner of DEEP BLACK). Couture Camp combines ceramics and fashion design in totally new ways in two sessions of summer camps this July.
From sketching and ideation to hands-on work in clay and fibers, you'll design and build your own avant-garde accessories and one-of-a-kind garment all week long. The week wraps up with a photoshoot and a fabulous fashion show where you'll strut your stuff for campmates and parents!
No previous experience with clay or sewing is required and we encourage you to bring a favorite garment to modify. If you’re interested in fashion, thrive in creative fast-paced but supportive, inclusive, and diverse classes, and enjoy making exciting new things, this camp is for you.
Level: No experience necessary, all are welcome
Camp 1: July 6 – 10
Camp 2: July 13 – 17
At: Hermitage Visual Arts School in Norfolk, VA
DRIP DROPS
Our job is to help you to create your most powerful werk. WERKSHOP will introduce several capsule collections of arcane tools for divine werk. These are all things crafted to help you show up as your highest, most capable self when you need to call on such power. Expect limited quantities of totally new kinds of functional objects from tools to accessories to vessels, and more. Furthermore, this is a year of collaborative design. Several of the drops are collaborations with artists, craftspeople, practitioners, and entrepreneurs across many different genres.
As loyal DEEP BLACK Family members, you'll be the first to be notified of upcoming events, drops, and updates. However, if you'd like to receive more timely reminders of upcoming events (trust me, there are a lot of them this year), as well as visual updates of exciting new werk in progress, we warmly invite you to join our new Instagram Channel, THE MARK.
