Fearless Experimentation

Announcing my first-ever non-ceramics class at The Hermitage Museum's Goode Visual Arts School: Fearless Experimentation! This expansive 2D-focused class is directly inspired by my weekly drawing seminar class at The Governor's School for the Arts. Each week we’ll play with time, light, memory, collaboration, expression, abstration, mark-making and more. With each topic we’ll push the boundaries of how we create. As your guide I will help you navigate the challenges, offering insight to expand your ability and show you new ways of working. As a group we’ll speak constructively about each others’ work while learning new modes of expression from each other. In addition to gaining indomitable confidence in trying out new ideas, at the end of every class you’ll leave energized and inspired, with a host of new skills to apply to your own creative practices.

This class is not about learning how to draw or paint, it’s about growing your abilities far beyond what you thought possible. You need not be Picasso, but you must come to this class with the ability to render an image onto paper in whatever style you enjoy. Whichever 2D media (e.g. pencils, acrylic paint, charcoal, markers, oil pastels, watercolor) you prefer, you will have opportunities to both focus on your preferred media, and experience media that may be new to you. Those who approach this class with a sense of adventure, lightheartedness, and a commitment to trying new things with earnest effort will get the most from this experience.
