Swung Bud Vase

These very first handcrafted one-of-a-kind Swung Bud Vases are my rendition of the iconic mid-century design. The name comes from how it was traditionally made in glass: a long-necked glass vase was expertly swung while still molten, creating a uniquely organic asymmetrical curvilinear design. I decided to resurrect this defunct object as a challenge to myself. Not only are they a lesson in art history,  they’re deceptively difficult to make.
