Collaboration is the soul of craft. The objects I make often don’t have a purpose without the addition of another discipline. What better time than Spring to pair floristry with ceramics. And who better to collaborate with than Norfolk’s doyenne of dahlia, wizard of wisteria, tsarina of tulips, Studio Posy!

After spending the most delightful evening scheming over cocktails and charcuterie at Toast, Marissa and I got together on a warm & windy Wednesday after work to combine what we each do best into something bigger than the both of us. She carefully selected dozens and dozens of the most incredible blooms just for this project, considering scale, color, complexity, and shape in the way of a seasoned designer. I brought the hardware, the all-new vases from my latest collection, SPRING HAS SWUNG.

The brief was simple: show how two simple choices — a vase and a bouquet — could elevate a home. As she created artful arrangements à la minute, I shot everything around my home. I’ve spent years collecting and arranging beautiful objects so we were spoiled for choice when it came to styling. Marissa had the idea to represent a wide range of florals, from the grocery-store mundane to the most special of stems, to show that the combination of flowers and vase can uplift each other. A small selection of simple ranunculus becomes riotous in a rich coral colored vase. A spray of airy white wildflowers paired with shocking kumquats in a chartreuse pomegranate-shaped vase looks divine just about anywhere. And the diva of an arrangement show here — as extravagant as it is tall — needs nothing more than a simple citrine caterpillar vase.
